“Sustainable Building Announces Accreditation by the Global GRESB Organization”
The Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), a leading international organization for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) benchmarking in financial markets, has accredited the Operating and Existing Systems for residential and commercial projects under the Sustainable Building Program, officially adding them to the list of globally recognized systems.
The Sustainable Building Program explained that this accreditation confirms “Sustadam”’s commitment to applying best sustainability practices in the real estate sector and contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). GRESB accreditation strengthens “Sustadam”’s position as a trusted partner in the real estate sector and provides added value to investors and beneficiaries. The accreditation of the Operating and Existing systems for residential and commercial projects complements the previous accreditation of the Design and Construction systems for both types of projects.
GRESB accreditation is a global standard for evaluating the sustainability of real estate and infrastructure projects, serving as a key benchmark relied upon by over 150 investment and financial institutions to make informed and sustainable decisions. “Sustadam” continues to strive for excellence in implementing sustainability strategies and contributing to building a more sustainable future.
In 2024, the Sustainable Building Program recorded growth in projects benefiting from the Sustainability Assessment service compared to 2023, reaching 75 projects with a total area of nearly 47 million square meters, marking a 32% increase. Additionally, 11 projects obtained the Design Compliance Certificate, reflecting a 19% increase, with projects distributed across Riyadh, Madinah, Jeddah, Khobar, Dhahran, and Taif.
During the past year, the program issued more than 23,000 quality inspection reports, enabling prospective buyers or tenants to verify the quality and safety of buildings and construction processes through inspections conducted by certified engineers, whether for ready-built or under-construction buildings.
The Sustainable Building Program aims to achieve sustainability standards in residential and commercial buildings as well as community developments, improving energy and water efficiency and enhancing quality of life. This is achieved through providing mechanisms and solutions to enhance construction quality, reduce operational and maintenance costs, minimize environmental pollution, lower carbon emissions, and raise the quality and efficiency of buildings and communities.
